Honda ticks each of those boxes with the Shadow Phantom plus, it is far lighter than its American peers, the 745cc engine is renowned for its reliability, and the bike is smooth. Buttery smooth power delivery, silky smooth gear changes, and from heels to hands hardly a negative vibration is felt. The Shadow Phantom is longer and lower than many jpr1968. You can't really say that al 86 1100's are dogs based on one bike. The mid 80's SHadows had the highest horsepower ratings of all the years. Its a good first bike. If your afraid that 600 will not be enough power for you then get a 750 or 800. I believe 750/800cc for a cruiser type bike is a perfect first bike, just like a 600cc is a perfect first bike for a street bike (rice burner). ALSO make sure the bike you buy has handle bar stabilizers, it is an awesome blessing.

That Shadow engine and driveline can easliy tolerate 100 mph continuous. Same engineering went into it as went into all Hondas.
